Frizenham Farmhouse B&B

Set in the rolling hills of North Devon and just two miles from the historical Cavalier market town of Great Torrington, Frizenham Farmhouse B&B offers two light and airy double bedrooms both with en-suites. The house and farm outbuildings have evolved over the centuries, and date back to pre Domesday and boasts Devon cob, brick and stone build with cobbled yards and a questioning history. It has, together with the large gardens, recently been thoughtfully and sympathetically renovated to allow an evocative, pleasing and comfortable rural stay.

Frizenham’s location enables easy access to explore the compelling North Devon coastline and the wilderness of both Dartmoor and Exmoor. We are approximately 1/2 mile from the beautiful Tarka Trail and within a stone's throw of RHS Rosemoor Gardens.

"We stayed at Frizenham Farmhouse on two occasions. Clare and Mike are the perfect hosts and this is a very high quality B and B. We stayed in the larger of the two rooms which was very comfortably and stylishly furnished and importantly provided all those things one is looking for. A very comfortable bed with good quality linen, fluffy towels, a well appointed shower room with a decent shower and high end toiletries, tea making facilities with the offer of fresh ground coffee if desired and good lighting to read by. The sitting / dining room is very comfortable and again stylishly furnished. We spent each evening there enjoying the wood burning stove and comfortable sofa. Clare served us a first class dinner on two occasions and we relished the high quality breakfasts. Clare and Mike grow their own fruit and vegetables as much as possible, they keep their own chickens and they source other top quality ingredients. Do take the opportunity to have dinner if you can. The B and B has numerous pieces of artwork to enjoy and we found talking to Mike about his sculptures and art installations absolutely fascinating. No doubt the garden in the summer is something to also enjoy. As long distance walkers we have stayed in dozens of B and Bs in recent years and we have no hesitation in highly recommending a stay at Frizenham Farmhouse." Judith and Nigel, Surrey
"Contrasting with the heavily wooded lane coming up from the Torridge, Frizenham farmhouse is bathed in light, sheltered by slopes in a curve creating an amphitheatre effect from which you look out right across the valley, the hills and sky far beyond. The grounds are terraced with springs, pond, & scattered sculpture, blend exotic planting with the abundant natural flora and burgeoning garden produce. Farmyard animals combine with an abundance of wild birds, butterflies. Frizenham with its wonderful views; its gorgeous grounds blend the natural, the productive and the purely aesthetic: arcadia! The farmhouse is beautifully restored and decorated; our room so comfortable, and the cooking with home produced ingredients, delicious! Mike and Clare are so welcoming and the experience they created for us was a work of art!" Jon and Fan, London
"My wife and I have just enjoyed a fabulous stay at Frizenham Farmhouse and wanted to write a recommendation. The farmhouse is beautiful and the accommodation (which extends to include a sitting room with a toasty fireplace!), and furnishings/toiletries/refreshments etc, is of exceptional quality that I was not expecting given the price. And that was topped off with a breakfast to die for. Oh, and we could park on-site right outside the door! Detailed instructions meant we found the farm house easily and even knew where to go for dinner that evening. However, none of that compares to the friendly, accommodating and personal attention given to us by Clare & Mike which has ensured our stay will be a special memory we shall cherish for a long time. And all on a day's notice for what was a spur of the moment visit to the nearby RHS gardens! Thank you. I hope we shall be able to visit again." Stephen and Katie
